Eligible Institutions

  • Educational institution must be approved by the Central Government, State Government or by any other government-approved organization
  • Educational institution must be a government or government-aided institution. Self-financing or private educations are eligible if their fee structure is reasonable and within the reach of students coming from underprivileged backgrounds

Academic Excellence Criteria

Academic excellence standards vary depending on the course and level of study. A few examples are provided below
  • For studies in the first year of high school, an applicant should have secured marks not less than 85% of the marks obtained by the first-ranked student in the 10th standard or equivalent Board examination on a statewide basis.
  • For studies in the first year of a general degree course, an applicant should have obtained not less than 85% of the marks secured by the first-ranked student in the 12th standard or equivalent Board examination on a statewide basis.
  • For studies in the first year of a professional degree course, an applicant should have obtained not less than 85% of the marks secured by the first-ranked student in the 12th standard or equivalent Board examination on a statewide basis; in addition, the applicant should have obtained an eligible rank or score in the qualifying examinations and a free/merit/open seat.
Standards of academic excellence are also prescribed for students when they seek renewal of their scholarships.
