- Since
1994, the Foundation has awarded more than 8400 scholarships
for an amount close to $1.7 million.
- Of
the 5800 students who have received scholarships 44% are
female and 56% are male.
- Scholarships
have been awarded to students from over 15 states.
- More
than 57% of the scholarships have been awarded to students
pursuing their school/high school studies.
- More
than 40% of the recipients were pursuing their degree (engineering,
medical, etc.) or diploma courses.
At the
end of academic year 2001-02, about 500 brilliant and needy
students had completed their education with FFE support. Among
them are doctors, engineers, computer applications and information
technology specialists, scientists and teachers. Most of these
scholars are currently employed in India; a few are pursuing
higher studies abroad.
On average, the Foundation invests $2,000 in an engineering/medical
student: $200 per year of high school and $450 per year for
4 years of professional studies. It is estimated that upon
completion of studies, a FFE scholar could have an incremental
earning potential of $4,000 per year. Assuming a 30-year working
life, FFE aid would enable the student to realize lifetime,
incremental earnings of $120,000, or a multiple of 60 per
$1 invested.
