Volunteers for Scholarship Program

Volunteers, described as Coordinators and Facilitators play a key role in the implementation of the Scholarship Programs.

Coordinators are US citizens and permanent residents who have contacts with individuals and institutions involved in education and non-profit sectors in India. Currently, there are about 350 coordinators spread over the US. A coordinator's main roles include:
  • Nominate volunteer (facilitators) in India in whom the coordinator has complete confidence with respect to the facilitators' judgment, integrity and passion for the cause of educating bright and needy students
  • Monitor effectiveness of facilitators
  • Monitor student's progress with facilitators and while on visits to India where facilitators are located
  • Help in implementing FFE's programs of assistance and other activities
  • Contribute to policy development
Facilitators are India based residents who have intimate knowledge of the education sector and student needs for higher education in India. Facilitators are enrolled only on the recommendation of a US based coordinator. Currently, there are 1,300 facilitators in various starts of India. A facilitator's main roles include:
  • Identify eligible students for assistance
  • Submit student applications
  • Disburse funds to students
  • Mentor student and his/her family
  • Provide advice on education sector in India
